Natascha Hennessey

Natascha has 25 years experience in small group and one to one humanities teaching. Originally trained in small group teaching at the University of Cambridge, she has been able to develop her considerable pedagogical skills through giving many hours of University and private tuition.

Natascha graduated in 1990 with a BA in Classics at Newnham College Cambridge. Her love for the Classical world was inspired by Mary Beard, her Director of Studies, and other Fellows of Newnham, including Pat Easterling, Joyce Reynolds, and Germaine Greer. She held a Jebb Studentship in Roman History at Newnham College and a Research Award at the British School at Rome, where she began her postgraduate research, specialising in Roman History and Imperial Latin Literature.

In 1994 she was awarded the prestigious Fondazione Lemmerman Research Fellowship in Italy. Her academic papers include “The thermae: a policy of public health or personal legitimation?, Journal of Roman Archaeology Supplementary Series Number 37, Eds. J.Delaine & D E Johnstone and “Did the Romans go to the baths to get clean or be dirty?”, Omnibus, Vol.32, J.A.C.T. (1996).

In 1995 she was awarded a Research Fellowship at St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. Natascha was in post as Director of Studies in Classics at St Edmund’s College for 12 years. During those years she managed students from application through to matriculation. Each year she was involved in the admissions process for humanities subjects including conducting admissions interviews.

Since the birth of her two sons Natascha retrained and now offers bespoke one-to-one tuition in English Language & Literature, Latin Language & Literature, and Classical Studies. She also offers academic mentoring for students in the process of making higher education applications.

She is passionate about dogs, chocolate and literature.
